A STRUCTURED settlement with a present value of $ 2 million was reported this week on behalf of a 37-year-old carpenter who suffered multiple disc herniations when a scoffold on which he was working tipped over and fell when hit by slabs of sheetrock.
The injuries sustained by the plaintiff, Richard Grassano, occurred seven years ago while he was working on Rikers Island. Contributing to the settlement were Falco Construction, the general contractor, and Island Acoustics, the plaintiff’s employer. The accord was reached during the damages phase of a bifurcated trial before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Joseph Giamboi.
Mr. Grassano was represented by Herbert L. Waichman and Martine M. Thurin of Parker Waichman, LLP of Great Beck; Falco Construction by Harry Lynch of Beesecker & Koors of Tarrytown; Island Acoustics by Carol L. Schlitt of Acito & Klein.
